We will be holding our Annual General Meeting Tuesday November 20th at 7 pm at the Peoples Place Library Community Room. Everyone is welcome even the players as we will give away one free membership from those that attend. Our guest Speaker will be Katie Edwards head coach of the St FX Rowing program at St. FX, she is going to speak to us about program development and team dynamics.
Katie has been the head coach of the StFX rowing club since 2011, and has led the team to the last six national championships. Recently, her crew placed fifth in the lightweight men’s double, a record for the team. Since 2013, the club has rowed on Lochaber, where Katie has worked to develop a world-class regatta hosting venue with the community of Lochaber. In addition to her coaching duties, she is the President of the Antigonish Rowing Club, the President of Row Nova Scotia, and was recently elected President of the Canadian University Rowing Association.
We will be looking to fill the following positions on the board:
Vice President – assist with overall operation of the club, prep for board meetings
Super Series Coordinator – coordinate with Stoirm teams, VNS, and gym coordinator to organize three Super Series tournaments a year if the club chooses to host in any or all three
Coaching Coordinator – coordinate coaches at the start of the year, hold coaches meeting at the start of the year, collect all Criminal Record Checks for VNS, track coaches training and liaise with VNS.
Gym Coordinator – work with County Recreation, AEC, Pomquet school, St. Andrew’s School, and Dr JH Gillis to get gym times for club practice, Home Tournaments and Super Series Tournaments.
